SPOT OF THE WEEK

Being a makeup artist isn't the easiest of businesses to venture into especially in a country like ours and in a world where there’s so much competition, one has to move fast to keep up with trends and be near perfect... we are very much excited with our SPOT OF THE WEEK, the ever bubbly Titilayo Bello CEO/Creative Director at LARYOH’BELLZ Makeup Studio.

LEPOSHLOUNGE: Hi Titilayo, it’s a pleasure meeting you; Can we get to know more about Laryoh Bellz?

LARYOH BELLZ: (Smiles) Nice meeting you too... Well, LaryohBellz is a makeup outfit where we offer professional makeup services and training...LaryohBellz started out professionally in 2010, although I've been doing some fake makeup before then (laughs) until I became a certified pro MUA at the Lise beauty school.

LEPOSHLOUNGE:  Family & business comes with much pressure and challenges, how do you manage both?’

LARYOH BELLZ: Hmm... It really does come with pressure and challenges, but where there's understanding the pressure lessens.

LPL: Has it always been the beauty business for you and what was the inspiration?

LB: I won't say it has always been the beauty business for me because I ve always been a business minded person... My beauty inspiration came from a dear friend, Ademilola we call her Lulu (God rest her soul in peace) she would bring out her mum's makeup do our makeup and shape our eyebrows...that was how I started to fall in love with makeup..

LPL: How do you keep your skills aligned to what’s going on in the competitive makeup industry?

LB: For me, being focused is key, As much as there are lot of pro makeup artists; there are also a lot of unprofessional ones... I like to do my things my own way, again continuous learning always keeps one in track.

LPL: The core of your work is training upcoming MUA’s, is this intentional?

LB: Yes and No... I like to inspire people. It gives me joy to see people do what they love..I hate to see people doing nothing when they can actually learn a trade.

LPL: How would you define beauty?

LB: Beauty!!! Beauty to me can't be defined for you...you are your own kind of beauty because BEAUTY REALLY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER..

LPL: What is your favorite makeup trick?

LB: My favorite makeup trick is applying concealer under the eye, it makes it look like you’ve done so much... It automatically softens the look... it takes away whatever stress that was there...

LPL: Tell us, best part of your job?

LB: The best part of my job... The best part is the joy of seeing my clients extremely happy and when my students/ex-students doing well.

LPL: Your word for aspiring Makeup Artist.

LB: My word for aspiring makeup artists... first make sure it is what you really want to do, don't be in the business just because you think everyone is doing it and making money from it..perfect your skills, be exposed, network and don't imitate!!!.
