SPOT OF THE WEEK: Yetty of Yetty D Revolution London

The amiable designer
We had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful, young woman by the name of Yetty Nnena Ogunnubi. She recently launched a new line, TRIBAL QUEST, and kindly agreed to answer some questions regarding her creative lifestyle and new collection.

Yetty  is a Nigerian-Bristish haute couture fashion designer. For her, designing started as a hobby but today she has gained international notoriety for her lively, unique and colourful designs. Yetty has a range of chic well put together pieces which offers fun and uniqueness for both ladies and men.

She is the creative director of YETTY D Revolution, an indie brand with fusion of Afro/Urban with a flavor, inspired by comtemporary art, hiphop fasion & rock.

Le Posh Lounge: how would you describe your ultimate goal as a designer?

Yetty: My Ultimate goal as a fashion designer is to create a revolution in the fashion industry and set my own trend whereby Yetty D becomes a household name worldwide as well as to inspire aspiring designers that have passion in what they do.

LPL: Where does the inspiration for your creation come from?

Y: My Inspiration comes from everyday living, colours, art, music, hiphop &urban living.. basically I'm inspired by the world around me.

LPL: The best part of ur job?

Y: Is when I see or bump into people wearing my designs, that's a priceless feeling, especially knowing people admire and love what one has created.

LPL: What do u think of the expanding african fashion?

Y: It's great to see the African fashion Industry evolving and growing by the day and getting the recognition we deserve in the world fashion industry.

LPL: Are designers selling an image more than clothes nowadays?

Y: In some areas i think so but majorly i believe people buy clothes for different reasons. Image is an integral part of selling clothes. For people to buy into your designs you do need to have the right image whatever that is.

LPL: Tell us about ur new collection?

Y: The New Collection by Revolution by Yetty D is called 'TRIBAL QUEST' Collection.
Tribal Quest is our journey where We combine our Creative heritage in Art, Music and our passion for Fashion, setting trends with bold colours and our African and Western root to create a collection in Alliance with our Ettos
Revolution by Yetty D brand.

LPL: WOW, lovely collection.
Y: Thank you

LPL: Do you deliver outside uk?

Y: We deliver anywhere in the world.

LPL: Designers that inspire u?

Y: I'm greatly inspired by Vivienne Westwood and Mary Katrantzou

LPL: How would you like to be viewed? As a fashion representative or as a designer with her unique worldview?

Y: As a Designer with her unique worldview

LPL: Yves Saint Laurent said in his farewell speech: “I now understand that the most important encounter in life is the encounter with oneself.” Have you reached that moment yet?

Y: No.. I'm far from it
(laughssssss)
LPL: Any advice for budding designers?

Y: Don't be a Follower but a Visionary, be your own person and understand your creative process. Lastly Push yourself and Stay hungry, never stop learning or evolving as a designer.
